Terms of Use · Roamlore

Last updated: 7 June 2026 Effective date: Upon the app's first public release on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

1. Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Zaviyaa Ellis, operating as Roamlore ("Roamlore", "we", "us", "our"), covering the Roamlore mobile app and related services (the "Service").

By creating an account, downloading, or using the Service, you confirm you have read and agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our EULA, and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or the higher minimum digital-consent age where you live — e.g. 16 in parts of the EU/EEA).
  • If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with a parent/guardian's consent and supervision, and they agree to these Terms on your behalf.
  • You may not use the Service if barred under applicable law or previously removed by us.

3. Your account

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of your information and for activity under your account.
  • Keep your credentials confidential; notify us at roamlore.app@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized use.
  • You may sign in with Sign in with Apple; your use of it is also subject to Apple's terms.
  • Do not create multiple accounts to abuse referrals, promotions, ratings, or community features.

4. What the Service does

Roamlore helps you discover, record, and share travel and activity routes. It uses your device location — including in the background while you are recording — to record routes, show nearby content, and label places. The Service is an aid, not a substitute for your own judgment (see §11 Safety and §13 Disclaimers).

5. User content and community routes

5.1 Your content

"User Content" includes recorded routes and GPS traces, route names/descriptions, photos, ratings and condition notes, reports, your profile (display name, avatar, bio, social links), business listings, and messages.

You keep ownership of your User Content. By submitting it you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, translate, publish, publicly display, and distribute it to operate, promote, and improve the Service. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except (a) for content others have already saved or shared, and (b) where we must retain copies to comply with law.

5.2 Public attribution & visibility

You control each route's visibility — public, friends-only, or private (new routes default to friends-only). Your profile is public. If you publish a route publicly or share it, the route and your display name and avatar are shown as the recorder. Do not publish publicly anything you do not want attributed and visible.

5.3 Your responsibilities

You represent that you own or have the rights to your User Content and that it complies with these Terms, our Community Guidelines, and the law. You are solely responsible for what you publish — including any location, photo, or personal information you choose to reveal.

5.4 Our rights

We do not pre-screen User Content but may review, refuse, remove, demote, or restrict any content at our discretion — including automatically demoting heavily-reported routes and acting on reports. We are not obligated to store or back up your content.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to (see the Community Guidelines for detail): - Post content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, hateful, harassing, sexually exploitative, or that endangers others; - Record or share routes that trespass on private property, enter restricted/dangerous areas, or break local laws or land-access rules; - Reveal another person's private or precise location or personal information without consent ("doxxing"); - Upload malware, scrape the Service, reverse-engineer it, or interfere with its operation or security; - Use bots or automation to inflate referrals, ratings, ad performance, or other metrics; - Misrepresent your identity or affiliation; - Use the Service to build a competing product or dataset.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, and we operate a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive users (§5.4, Community Guidelines).

7. Creator and referral programs

  • The Service offers a referral feature and a creator program (creators may display links to channels such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and X, which can appear on routes they record).
  • Referral rewards are described in the app. The current published rate is 3 qualified referrals = 1 free month of Pro access. Pro is not yet purchasable, so rewards are tracked and will apply once Pro launches. We may change reward rates or qualification rules, or end the program, with notice where required.
  • Rewards have no cash value, are non-transferable, and may be revoked for fraud or abuse.
  • Creators are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the links and content they display.

8. Business accounts and advertising

  • Businesses may register a business account and (subject to our review) promote a public route they're attached to — for example presenting a "hidden gem" location as a destination, shown with a "Sponsored" label and boosted placement.
  • No payment is currently collected — ad tiers and prices shown in the app are preview-only while billing is not live. When payments launch, additional terms and pricing will apply.
  • Businesses are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and safety of what they promote and for holding all rights and permits needed to advertise.
  • We may reject, remove, pause, or (when billing exists) refund any campaign that violates these Terms or advertising laws.

9. Subscriptions, purchases, and billing

  • The Service may offer optional paid features ("Pro") in future. No subscription is currently sold in the app. When offered, features, prices, and any trial terms will be shown before purchase.
  • Purchases would be processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play (and/or a billing provider such as RevenueCat). We do not receive your full card details.
  • Billing, renewal, and cancellation would be governed by the store you purchased through: subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel in your Apple ID or Google Play settings; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds would be handled under Apple's or Google's policies; request them through the relevant store.
  • Our Free Forever Pledge (shown in the app) is our promise that v1.0 features remain free; any future Pro tier would add new features rather than remove existing ones.

10. Intellectual property

The Service itself — software, design, the "Roamlore" name and logos, and content we provide (excluding User Content and third-party content) — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. Subject to these Terms and the EULA, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use (or, for business accounts, as expressly permitted).

11. Safety — important

Roamlore does not guarantee that any route, trail, road, place, or destination is safe, legal, accessible, or suitable for you. Conditions change; data may be inaccurate, outdated, or user-generated, and AI-generated descriptions, difficulty ratings, and any elevation/terrain information may be wrong.

You are solely responsible for your own safety and for assessing weather, terrain, traffic, fitness, equipment, local laws, and land-access rules. Do not rely on the app for emergency navigation. Do not interact with the app while driving or in any way that endangers you or others. Follow all traffic and trail laws, and be aware of your surroundings while recording.

12. Third-party services and content

The Service relies on and links to third parties, including map/location providers (Mapbox), our backend and AI providers (Supabase, Anthropic), an elevation provider (open-elevation.com), the app stores, and links posted by creators. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party services or content; your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

13. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that any content (including AI output, place labels, or elevation/terrain data) is accurate or reliable. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so some may not apply to you.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, personal injury, or property damage, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total aggregate liability for all claims will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event, or (b) USD $50. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Roamlore (Zaviyaa Ellis) from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.

16. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account any time at Settings → Delete account (see the Account & Data Deletion Policy). We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these Terms, for legal/security reasons, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by nature should survive (e.g. 5.1 for already-shared content, 10, 13, 14, 15, 17) will survive.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Jamaica, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to any non-waivable consumer rights you have in your country of residence, the courts of Jamaica will have jurisdiction over disputes, unless mandatory local law provides otherwise.

Optional (consider with a lawyer): an arbitration clause / class-action waiver — common in US consumer apps, restricted in some jurisdictions. Do not add without legal advice.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified in-app or by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

19. Apple App Store & Google Play additional terms

  • These Terms are between you and us, not with Apple or Google.
  • Apple and Google are not responsible for the Service or any claims relating to it (including product-liability, legal/regulatory, or IP claims).
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you regarding your use of the iOS app.
  • You confirm you are not in a US-embargoed country or on any US Government restricted-parties list.
  • You must comply with applicable third-party terms (e.g. your wireless carrier's) when using the Service.
